Ahmed El Swefy

Managing partner

Ahmed is a partner in the Firm’s Dispute Resolution practice.

He has joined the firm in September 2007. Ahmed has extensive experience in adjudication

and litigation, he focuses on maritime disputes, and commercial disputes and establishing of    companies procedures. Ahmed is of Egyptian and Cypriot origin.

Representative Legal Matters:

  • Pollution cases such as the pollution caused by the m/v “Volgobalt” in 2009.
  • Grounding of the “Jolly Amaranto” in December 2010 and the claims brought by cargo receivers.
  • Commercial dispute between an Egyptian Tanker owner and a major oil producer in Egypt.
  • Dispute between the Egyptian port authorities and ship owners.
  • Successfully defending a number of shipping companies before the Egyptian courts in numerous court actions relating to oil spills in the Egyptian territorial waters.

Education:

  • Graduated from Faculty Law- English Department, Alexandria University, class of 2007.
  • Graduated from kawmyea Language School in 2003.
