Hazem joined EL SWEFY law firm in 2009 until present and works as a counsel in the Firm’s Commercial and Maritime group. Hazem maintains particular experience in the field of corporate law and he advises a number of local and multinational companies on joint venture transactions and contractual restructure.

Representative Legal Matters:

Dr Barakat also dealt with very high-profile cases before the Egyptian courts arbitration tribunals and these include:

• Judicial sale of a ship in satisfaction of a claim by a multinational steel producer arising under the charter party.
• Successfully defending a national shipping company in a number of court cases raised by minority shareholders.
• Successfully defending a number of shipping companies before the Egyptian courts in numerous court actions relating to oil spills in the Egyptian territorial waters.
• Representing various companies before arbitration tribunals.
